Student dies exercising inside varsity gym

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 2, 2024 4001 Minutes read0

A student at Veritas University, Abuja, Joshua Daniel, has died on the campus while exercising at the school’s gym.

This is as the management of the university pledged to cooperate with relevant authorities on investigations into the student’s death, reports Daily Trust.

The Head, Corporate Affairs of the institution, Ben Agande, in a statement today said: “On the 30th of April, 2024, one of our students, Mr. Joshua Daniel, while keeping fit at the University Gymnasium, unfortunately slumped and all attempts by the medical team, led by the Chief Medical Director, to revive him failed.”

He said the parents of the student were promptly informed of the tragic event and the school authorities duly informed the police.

“Our thoughts are with the parents of late Mister Daniel as well as the Head of Department and students of the Department of Computer Sciences over this unfortunate loss,” he said.

The varsity prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the student and extend its most sincere condolences to the parents.

“As a university, we will cooperate fully with the police, the parents of the deceased, and all relevant authorities to unravel the probable cause of death,” Agande said.

He pleaded with the media and members of the public to be respectful of the privacy of the late student’s parents at this trying moment while the police carry out their investigations.
