Suspect abandons stolen ram after sighting owner in Abuja market

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 16, 2024 3160 Minutes read0

•A ram

A mild-drama played out yesterday after a yet to be identified man who allegedly stole a ram abandoned it and escaped upon sighting the owner at Abaji cattle market in the Federal Capital Territory.

A witness, Shuaibu Ibrahim, who said the incident happened around 11:12 am, alleged that the suspect stole the ram at a Fulani settlement in Adagba village of the council, reports Daily Trust.

He said the owner of the ram raised an alarm after he discovered that one of his rams was missing and he quickly alerted some buyers at the market to keep eyes on anyone that might bring ram to sell.

According to him, when there was no immediate response, the owner decided to come down to the market, where he saw the suspect already negotiating to sell the stolen ram, adding that upon sighting the owner, the suspect abandoned the ram and escaped.

He said some vigilantes were mobilised to search for the suspect while the ram was handed over to the owner after interrogations.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command Josephine Adeh, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
