•Pete Edochie

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has dismissed rumours of his passing. His communications team, Afrolens Media, confirmed in a statement today that the 78-year-old is alive, well, and actively going about his daily engagements.

The statement read, “We wish to categorically state that the news circulating on some blogs and social media platforms claiming that veteran Nollywood actor Chief Pete Edochie is no longer with us is completely false, malicious, and deeply irresponsible.

The statement notes, “Chief Pete Edochie is alive, well, and actively going about his daily engagements.”

“These baseless reports have caused unnecessary panic and emotional distress to him, his family, colleagues, fans, and the Nigerian entertainment industry at large.”

It further stated, “We strongly warn bloggers, content creators, and media platforms to immediately desist from publishing unverified information, especially on sensitive matters relating to life and health.”

The spread of fake news is unethical, harmful, and going forward, we may consider taking legal actions.

It added, “We urge the public to rely solely on his official Instagram account @peteedochie as the only credible and authorised source of information or statements concerning Chief Pete Edochie.

The management urged the public and media men to prioritise integrity in their reporting to prevent further emotional distress to the actor’s family and fans.

Let us uphold professionalism, integrity, and humanity in reporting, blogging, and content creation because HUMANITY IS THE ESSENCE OF LIFE.
