The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecast widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from today, Monday, June 16, to Wednesday, June 18.

In its three-day weather outlook released in Abuja, NiMet said early morning thunderstorms are expected in northern states, including Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba today, reports The PUNCH.

Later in the day, heavier rainfall and storms may affect Borno, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Kebbi, Katsina, and other northern areas.

For the North-Central region, morning showers are likely in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and Nasarawa states.

“Thunderstorms are also expected across the entire region later in the day.

Southern states such as Ebonyi, Abia, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River are expected to experience morning rainfall, with more widespread rain in the afternoon and evening across Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Edo, Delta, and other southern locations.”

Tomorrow, NiMet predicted a similar weather pattern, with early morning storms in parts of Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Zamfara in the North, and evening rainfall in Gombe, Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, and other areas.

In the North-Central zone, the FCT, Plateau, and Nasarawa will experience early rains, while Kogi, Niger, and Benue are likely to have thunderstorms in the evening.

The southern region will also see rain in Ogun, Ondo, Cross River, Rivers, and Lagos in the morning, with more areas, including Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom, expected to receive rain by evening.

By Wednesday, early morning thunderstorms will hit parts of Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba, with more showers anticipated in the afternoon in Gombe and Jigawa.
