After a year of relentless work and obligations, Nigerians eagerly await the opportunity to relax as the festive season approaches.

Among the most special ways to unwind this festive season are attending concerts, comedy shows, and stage performances featuring acclaimed musicians, comedians, and actors, reports Saturday PUNCH.

Notable shows that entertained fun lovers in 2023 include Flytime Fest 2023: Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged, Spinall: Party of Your Dreams 2023 (8th Edition), Young Jonn: The Jiggy Concert, No Bad Vibes with L.A.X, Asake Live in Abuja, Omah Lay Unplugged, Sincerely BNXN in Concert, Trench Fest: Dapper All-Stars Edition, Reminisce: Alaye Toh Se Gogo, An Intimate Night with Adekunle Gold, Shallipopi Road 2 Pluto, Yinka Ayefele & Shola Allyson Unboxed, Seyi Vibez Live in Lagos, Davido Timeless Tour, Koffi Tha Guru: Muludun Night, among many others.

This article highlights the key concerts and shows to look out for as the festive season approaches.

1. Flytime Fest 2024

The Flytime Fest, established in 2004, is an annual festive entertainment event that curates premium African entertainment experiences.

According to information on its website, as curators of the largest concert rosters in Nigeria, over 300 African artists have graced Flytime stages. Flytime Fest has created bridges between art and entertainment, from Nigeria to the world.

The 2024 edition of Flytime Fest, which marks its 20th anniversary, will commence on December 22 at the Eko Convention Centre. It will feature an all-star lineup in a four-day event, starting with Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged.

The organisers revealed the event line-up on Instagram, saying, “The moment you’ve been waiting for is here, and we’re bringing the fire. Olamide, @davido, and @ayrastarr are taking the stage for Flytime Fest 2024, where we will be celebrating 20 years of Coca-Cola #RhythmUnplugged. This December, we’re making history. Are you ready?”

On December 23, YBNL rap king Olamide Adedeji (a.k.a. Badoo) will take the stage. On Christmas Eve, Davido will thrill his fans with a night of music and fun, while Ayra Starr will perform her first-ever headline concert in Nigeria on Christmas Day.

2. Rema: Live in Concert

On December 15, 2024, energetic Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter, Divine Ikubor (known as Rema), will perform at Eagles Square in Abuja, thrilling music lovers with an extraordinary night of music, dance, and fun. He will head to Eko Atlantic in Lagos on December 22 for another electrifying concert.

3. The ZTTW Concert

Zlatan’s ‘Zanku To The World Experience’ is another concert to look out for this yuletide. Scheduled for December 19, 2024, at Queens Park, Lagos, Zlatan, known for his “Zanku” and “Legwork” dance moves, is set to deliver an unforgettable performance with his signature rap hits and dynamic dance steps.

4. Fire & Sand Detty December

For those seeking a wild time of fun and partying during the festive season, Fire & Sand Detty December is the place to be. This event will feature one of the biggest beach bonfire parties Lagos has ever seen. Organised by The Party Company, it will be held on December 7, 2024, at the Wave Beach Theme Park, Elegushi, Lagos.

5. The Experience

Gospel music lovers will have a spectacular time at the 2024 edition of The Experience, the annual gospel music concert founded by Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of House on the Rock, Lagos.

According to the event’s website, The Experience is a free, all-night gospel music concert featuring celebrated psalmists from Nigeria and around the world. The 2024 edition will be held on December 6, 2024, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos, with performances from Sinach, Yinka Alaseyori, Travis Green, Tope Alabi, Mercy Chinwo, Israel Houghton, Moses Bliss, Dunsin Oyekan, and many others.

6. Afro Jazz Fest

Jazz lovers are in for an unforgettable experience on December 15, 2024, as the Afro Jazz Fest takes centre stage at the Bature Brewery, Etim Inyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Organisers have promised an unforgettable night of entertainment, culture, food, and drinks. Limited early tickets are available.

7. Cavemen Live in Lagos

•Cavemen

On December 27, 2024, the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos, will come alive with the live performance of Kingsley Okorie (bassist) and Benjamin James (drummer) of the highlife band Cavemen. The 2020 Headies Award winners for Best Alternative are set to thrill lovers of highlife music with their unique style.

8. Osanle Fest

For fans of street music, Osanle Fest is set to bring the roof down at the Water Corporation Drive, Oniru, opposite Landmark Beach, Lagos. While the full lineup of artists is yet to be announced, the show promises a fun-filled night of danceable music.

9. Shallipopi Live in Lagos

•Shallipopi

Shallipopi, the ‘Elon Musk’ hitmaker, is set to deliver an unforgettable performance at Shallipopi Live in Lagos.

With his chart-topping club anthems dominating the airwaves throughout the year, fans — affectionately known as Plutomanians — can look forward to an electrifying rap concert.

10. Johnny’s Room Live

Mavin Music singer Johnny Drille will dazzle fans with his annual live concert, Johnny’s Room Live, in Abuja on December 8, 2024, at Harrow Park.
