131 Nigerian returnees from the Niger Republic, assisted by the International Organisation for Migration (IMO) in collaboration with the Federal Government’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA ) have arrived safely in the country.
They came back into the country from Agades in the Republic of Niger.
NEMA in its X statement today stated that, “The returnees arrived through the Aminu Kano International Airport in the early hours of Thursday, 30th October, 2025, at approximately 5:17 a.m.
“They were received by NEMA officials in coordination with the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), the Nigerian Immigration Service, and other critical stakeholders.”
According to the agency, the NIS conducted biometric registration and documentation to ensure proper identification and support for reintegration.
“The returnees were subsequently conveyed to the Nigeria Immigration Service Training School, Kano, where further profiling continued on 31st October, 2025,” the statement added.
Providing a demographic breakdown, NEMA said, “The 131 returnees comprise 118 male adults, four female adults, two male children, and seven female children.”
The agency noted that, “In line with the federal government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, dignified and humane return for Nigerian citizens, the returnees were provided with essential humanitarian support including meals, drinking water, medical screening, ambulance services, logistical assistance and coordinated reception services.”
It further stated that the exercise “reflects the continued collaboration between NEMA, IOM, NCFRMI and other partners in ensuring the proper reintegration of Nigerians returning voluntarily from abroad, as part of ongoing national efforts to promote safe migration and strengthen humanitarian support systems.”
