6 HOURS RAIN: Lagos residents stranded as flood takes over communities •PHOTOS

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 20, 2024 4790 Minutes read0

Many residents have been reportedly stranded following about six-hour rainfall that submerged many houses in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.

The rain which started around 6am today in most parts of the metropolis, took over streets and bridges, reports Daily Trust.

The flood also impeded vehicular movement. The most affected communites include Abule-Egba, Command, Agege and Egbeda areas of Lagos.

Emergency responders from both the state and federal government agencies were on the ground to rescue the trapped victims.

Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South West, confirmed the situation.

He advised residents of Command Area to take alternative routes, when going out, by avoiding Command and the near areas as flood has overrun the bridge in the neighbourhood.

“NEMA, fire service and police are working to get trapped people out of the area,” he added.
