UNILAG lecturers commence strike today over ‘amputated’ salaries

Lecturers at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos, have resolved to withdraw their services from today following allegation that their salaries for the months of January and February this year were not paid in full.

The decision was taken at an emergency congress of the union held yesterday.

The union held that members would not accept the amputated salaries paid them for the said months, reports Vanguard.

Sources at the Emergency Congress said that members rejected what they termed Amputated January and February 2026 salaries.

“After extensive and exhaustive deliberations on the one item on the agenda, Congress observed that the University paid amputated salary in January, 2026 to oll members i.e.

“The University also unilaterally and wickedly paid amputated February, 2026 salary to all our members. The recent action of the University Administration violates all the tenets of decency and clearly portrays the University Administration as wicked and unfeeling,” a source said.

Members subsequently resolved to withdraw their services from today until their salaries are paid in full.
