Accord Party lauds Governor Adeleke as BudgIT ranks Osun among Nigeria’s most transparent states

•Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State

The Osun State Chapter of the Accord has congratulated Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and the entire government of Osun State following the latest fiscal transparency report by BudgIT which ranked the state among the most transparent in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the State Chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Babalola Akande, and released through the Accord Media Centre, the party described the recognition as a strong validation of Governor Adeleke’s commitment to accountability, openness and responsible governance.

According to the BudgITStates Fiscal Transparency League (SFTL) Q4 2025 report, Osun was listed among only nine states across the federation that achieved the highest score in fiscal transparency, placing the state among the most accountable subnational governments in the country.

Pastor Akande said the recognition reflects the deliberate efforts of the Adeleke administration to ensure that governance in Osun is not only people-focused but also transparent in the management of public resources.

He noted that since assuming office in 2022, the governor has consistently demonstrated a leadership style that prioritises openness and public accountability, particularly in how government finances are managed and reported.

“Being ranked among the most fiscally transparent states in Nigeria is not accidental. It reflects the conscious efforts of a government that believes the people deserve to know how public resources are being utilised,” he said.

The Accord chairman explained that the BudgIT assessment considered indicators such as the timely publication of budget implementation reports, accessible fiscal data repositories, and functional procurement portals through which citizens can monitor government contracts.

He added that Osun’s strong performance in these areas shows that the current administration understands that transparency is essential for building trust between the government and the people.

Pastor Akande therefore congratulated the governor, members of the State Executive Council, civil servants, and all stakeholders whose efforts have helped strengthen by transparency and accountability within the state’s financial system.
