ROMANCE GONE SOUR: I built my wife a house, spent millions that she could be pregnant only to discover she’s married to someone else

The FrontierThe FrontierJuly 18, 2026 653 Minutes read0

A man identified as Badmus has filed a divorce suit against his wife, Shadia, whom he met on Facebook and claimed was deceitful, diabolic, troublesome and a threat to his life, at Grade A Customary Court, sitting in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Badmus stated that he was living in the United Kingdom and that Shadia lied to him that she was a single parent with two children, reports Saturday Tribune.

Badmus said that he had spent a fortune on Shadia before he discovered to his amazement that she has a husband and that their marriage still held.

Badmus explained that he held a traditional wedding with Shadia who later employed diabolic means to siphon money from him.

According to Badmus, he took responsibility for the upkeep of Shadia’s two children and enrolled them in a good and expensive private school.

The plaintiff further said that he established the defendant in four different businesses which she ruined one after the other as a result of her extravagant lifestyle.

The plaintiff added that he assisted her in completing the construction of her house.

Badmus also said he spent as much as N6 million in ensuring that Shadia conceived and that a medical report later revealed that a scissors was forgotten in her when she had her second child through cesarean operation.

He explained that things started to fall apart between her and his wife when he turned down her request of going to UK with him whereas he had explained to her that he lives there with his first wife.

Badmus said that Sadia took possession of documents of his property and insisted that he shared his property with her.

The plaintiff said the truth about the defendant was revealed after he sent her money and a man called and declared to him that he was the defendant’s husband.

He explained that the defendant started threatening him after this which invariably took its toll on his health.

Badmus prayed the court to end his relationship with Shadia.

He also requested an order restraining her from threatening and infringing on his privacy.

Shadia was absent in court despite being served court summons.

Badmus, in his testimony, said, “I am based in the United Kingdom and I met my wife through Facebook.

“My wife is diabolic and she got me trapped by this means.

“She told me from the outset of our relationship that although she has two children, she was single.

“I believed her and decided to go ahead with my plans to marry her.

“We held a traditional wedding and I paid N100, 000 as her bride price.

“She controlled and manipulated me; I was responsible for her children’s upkeep. She also enrolled her children in a good and expensive school while I paid their fees.

“I established a business for her at four different times but she wrecked them through her extravagant living.

“I also spent through the nose helping her in completing the construction of her house.

“My lord, I spent nothing less than N6 million seeking that she got pregnant for me. It was later discovered that she had a scissors forgotten in her while she underwent a caesarean operation during the birth of her second child.

“She insisted I took her along with me when returning to UK, but I declined because I had made it known to her from the beginning of our relationship that I live there with my first wife.

“We went on a two-week vacation to Egypt, but she was not satisfied.

“She later took possession of the documents of my property and insisted I shared my property with her.

“The cat was let out of the bag when I transferred some money to her account and a man called me, informing me he saw the money I sent to his wife.

“He demanded to know who I was and I asked him to ask Shadia.

“I came to my senses after this and realised that Shadia was a dupe.

“She has not ceased threatening me.

“I reported her at the police, she was cautioned but she refused to stop.

“Shadia’s misbehaviour has hampered my health. I am hypertensive and on drugs.

“I pray this honourable court to dissolve our union.

“I further seek an order restraining her from threatening and infringing on my privacy.”

The court president, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, adjourned the case for judgment.
