Another dismissed officer impersonates DSS, agency warns Nigerians

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 13, 2025 1820 Minutes read0

The Department of State Services has issued another public warning about a dismissed officer allegedly impersonating the agency to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

In a post shared on its official X handle, @OfficialDSSNG, yesterday, the secret police identified the suspect as Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff said to be engaging in “unscrupulous activities” using the name of the Service.

“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public of the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff.

“He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the DSS said.

The DSS urged members of the public to desist from any dealings with him, adding that all official enquiries and complaints should be directed to its verified communication channels.

The new disclaimer comes barely four days after the agency released a similar statement warning Nigerians against one Barry Donald, another dismissed officer accused of impersonating the Service for fraudulent purposes.

The DSS, founded in 1986, is Nigeria’s domestic intelligence agency responsible for internal security and counterintelligence operations.
