ATMs, online banking shut down for additional 3 hours as GTB extends system upgrade

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 14, 2024 2831 Minutes read0

A leading financial institution in Nigeria, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), has announced extension of system upgrade by three hours, thereby causing delays in reopening its banking channels due to its transition to a new Finacle Core Banking Application System.

The bank recently notified its customers of temporary disruptions in the bank’s digital banking services for 11 hours, beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, and ending at 9:00 a.m. today, Monday, October 14.

In an update via a statement issued today, the bank informed customers that the migration to the new platform is taking longer than initially expected. As a result, all banking channels, including physical branches, which were scheduled to reopen at 9:00 a.m., will now resume operations at 12:00pm today.

GTB reassured customers of its commitment to completing the transition as swiftly as possible and urged them to remain patient.

The statement further indicated that customers needing assistance can contact the bank’s support centre through designated service touchpoints.

The bank added that the transition to the new core banking system forms part of its efforts to improve service delivery through more robust digital infrastructure.

The statement reads, “Dear Customer, following our recent notification on the transition to a new and robust suite of Finacle Core Banking Application Systems, we would like to update you that this transition has taken a little longer than planned.

“As a result, all Banking Channels, including our Branches, originally scheduled to reopen at 9:00 a.m will now open at 12.00 noon today.

“We understand that you rely on our services to carry out important financial transactions, and we apologize for every inconvenience this disruption to our banking services might cause you.

“We ask for your continued support as we complete this transition. If you require any assistance, you can reach our contact centre.”
