•Presidential Villa (Aso Rock)

Residents and businesses in several parts of the Federal Capital Territory, including the Presidential Villa, National Assembly and Supreme Court, will experience a two-day power outage this weekend following planned maintenance by the Federal Capital Development Authority.

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company announced the planned service interruption in a public notice issued yesterday, saying the outage would affect customers on tomorrow, Saturday, July 18, and Sunday, July 19, 2026, reports The PUNCH.

According to AEDC, the disruption is necessitated by the relocation of two electric power towers, identified as H3 and H5, from the 132/33kV Apo Transmission Station to facilitate ongoing road construction by the FCDA.

Areas listed for the outage include State House Villa, National Security Adviser headquarters, National Judicial Council, Supreme Court, National Assembly, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Defence Intelligence Agency headquarters, State House Clinic, DSS headquarters, IBB Golf Club, ECOWAS Secretariat, the World Bank, General Hospital Asokoro, Guzape and several military formations.

Others are Lungi Barracks, Mambilla Barracks, Aguyi Ironsi Barracks, Niger Barracks, Gowon Barracks, the Army War College, Army Museum, Army Intelligence Unit, as well as Kano, Sokoto and Imo governors’ lodges.

Residential and commercial areas to be affected include Aso Drive, Asokoro Extension, W.U. Bassey and Extension, Gado Nasko Street, Yakubu Gowon Crescent, TY Danjuma Street, Jose Marti Street, Samora Machel Street, Kwame Nkrumah Street, Nelson Mandela Street, Desmond Tutu Street, Haile Selassie Street, Udo Udoma Street, Senator Obiora Street and surrounding locations.

AEDC apologised for the inconvenience and urged customers to bear with the temporary disruption.

The distribution company advised customers to contact its customer service channels for further enquiries and updates regarding the planned outage.
