Burna Boy Foundation renovates physically-challenged persons’ home in Rivers

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 1, 2024 2932 Minutes read0

The Grammy Award winner and Afro-fusion sensation, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has renovated the home of the physically challenged in Rivers state through his Burna Boy Foundation in partnership with the REACH Foundation Nigeria.

The modernised facility, Cheshire Home, in Borikiri, Port Harcourt, has provided accommodations for the physically challenged in the state but its facilities gradually deteriorated over time following lack of money, reports The Nation.

However, the Burna Boy Foundation came to the rescue of Cheshire Home and its beneficiaries in July 2023 when it collaborated with the REACH Foundation to initiate the renovation.

Unveiling the remodelled facility today, the Chairperson, Board of Directors, The REACH Foundation Nigeria, Halliday Floretta, said the event portrayed nothing but love for humanity and mankind.

She said: “We are a charitable organisation with the aim of reaching out to the most vulnerable in our communities. It is with this that we connect with those who have something to give and help them actualise their vision.

“We sincerely thank the Dash Me Foundation for initiating this Cheshire Home renovation project, we lack words to appreciate Mr. Damini Ogulu and his team for their continuous trust in the Reach Foundation, through their numerous supports, we have been able to impact several communities and lives.

“We have been brought together this afternoon in a show of true service to humanity, always remember that a little kindness brings help and hope to people in need giving them strength and resilience to stand strong in the face of adversity.”

On his part, Burna Boy, who was represented by his father, Samuel Ogulu, expressed his delight in the project, saying that he would continue to reach out to the needy in society.

He said: “I am honoured to be part of this meaningful endeavour to restore hope and dignity to the physically challenged individuals in our community.

“It is a humbling experience that he would think of this kind of project. Although he has been doing several projects, this one is most touching and I appreciate him for this initiative and we are proud of him.”

“Together with The REACH Foundation Nigeria, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

“This was laid in my heart to make it happen, it is like a burden and I thank God we are here. This is not the end, there is still much to be done, we will be back by the grace of God to improve on what we have started.”

Also, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austine Opara commended Burna Boy and called on the government to name an art theatre after the singer.
