DSS slams Facebook post alleging arrest of Evangelist over false alarm video

The FrontierThe FrontierNovember 27, 2025 1340 Minutes read0

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reacted to a post on Facebook which claimed that the Service has arrested one Evangelist Ukpo Daniel for raising a false alarm in a video claiming that Fulani herdsmen attacked a crusade in Agboda Village, Nasarawa State.

The DSS described the post as “false and misleading”, adding that the “claim is incorrect and appears intended to cast the Service in bad light as well as steer public tension.”

According to a statement signed by Favour Dozie, Deputy Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the DSS, and posted on the Service’s website, Evangelist Ukpo Daniel was never invited or arrested by the DSS.

“His spouse, Elizabeth, who originated the post, when contacted, confirmed that she was with him at the Police Headquarters, Lafia,” the DSS clarified.

The statement further warned Nigerians to always avoid false and misleading posts on social media “that could inflame tension or disrupt ongoing operations, seriously.”

The DSS added, “The Service advises the public to depend on verified information and communication channels to stem the spate of disinformation that may be exploited to further distort national security.”
