Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described music legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, as a great music philosopher who has touched millions of lives through his evergreen works and morally rich music.

Governor Adeleke, who surprisingly attended the 82nd birthday thanksgiving service of the music legend at his church, Decross Gospel Mission, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State, last Wednesday, also wished the music icon more long life and sound health, reports Saturday Tribune.

Adeleke also used the event to raise Nigerians’ hopes that there are better days ahead and that Nigeria will be great and overcome its present challenges, adding, “I use Baba Obey as a point of contact for a greater Nigeria. I also pray for a long life as the music icon has enjoyed and will still enjoy a better life. He deserves to be celebrated now and all the time and I am happy to take him on a surprise with my friend, Chief Dele Momodu, to celebrate today.”

Senator Adeleke dazzled the celebrant and the entire congregation by singing some of the songs of the living legend to appreciate the popular singer who is now an evangelist.

The event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life including Oba Adedapo Tejuoso and his oloris; Chief Abiola Ogundokun and representatives of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland Oba Gbadebo; Chief (Mrs) Bola Obasanjo; Reverend Mother Esther Ajayi; Pastor Joseph Adelakun (Baba Ayewa); Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi; Archbishop John Osa-Oni, and Reverend Idowu Animasahun; Chief Funlola Okunowo; Barrister Bambo Adesanya (SAN); Prince Bisi Olatilo; Sir Sina Peters; Chief Tunde Falasinu, and Chief Akinwale Okoro Sodipo, among others.

In his remarks, the celebrant, appreciated everyone that made his 82nd birthday celebration worth celebrating, just as he expressed his gratitude to God for sparing his life even at 82.

“I thank God for his faithfulness and kindness in my life. It is by His grace I am still alive today. I’ve done several surgeries, but the last one; prostate enlargement surgery was challenging yet God prevailed.

“I thank everyone who came around me. The names are too numerous to mention. I can’t thank you all enough. All I would say is that God bless you all and reward you all bountifully,” Obey added.
