Heavy rainfall this morning caused severe flooding in parts of Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
This rendered roads in the area impassable and disrupted traffic, reports AFP.
Several images and videos circulating on social media show motorists stranded with submerged cars on most roads.
In a statement, traffic police spokesperson, Michael Kananura, advised motorists to use the Northern Bypass as an alternative route to avoid delays.
“Due to heavy rainfall this morning, the areas of Banda, Kyambogo & Kinawataka (Katogo) have become impassable.
“Motorists are advised to use the Northern Bypass as an alternative route to avoid delays and inconveniences,” Kananura said.
He also urged patience from those affected, noting that movement would only resume once the water subsides.
The flooding is the latest in a series of traffic disruptions caused by heavy rains in Kampala.
