Governor Mohammed hits back at Wike: Nobody can put fire in Bauchi, we have plenty water

•Bala Mohammed and Nyesom Wike

Following the statement by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that he would put fire in the states of some PDP governors attempting to hijack the party’s structure in Rivers State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has said that nobody can put fire in Bauchi State because the state has plenty of water.

Governor Mohammed stated this today when received the leadership of the National Working Committee of the PDP who paid him a courtesy visit at the government house Bauchi, reports Daily Independent.

Governor Mohammed said that the crisis rocking the party is not personal, stressing that nobody should misunderstand the party as it is still united.

“If we have quarrel, it is not personal, nobody should misunderstand us, we are together. This is not a splinter group, this is just a delegation from the National Working Committee of the PDP. We are going to discuss some of the issues in the party.

“This unsolicited visit by the National Working Committee shows that in Nigeria we have people of conscience and we are connected by the values that establish the PDP by our founding fathers.

“Yes, none of the political parties are insulated of crisis here and there, but crisis is there and that is why leadership is there. We have to take the bull by the horn to discuss and look at the constitution of our party.

“We must do things by the rule of law, we must respect people, we must put our interest aside, we must respect our diversities, we must bring and close rank, especially for party like the PDP that has a history

“We have a pedigree, most of the developments in the country were done by the PDP, since we left nothing has happened. As you can see all the members of the National Working Committee that are here are square heads in square holes,” he said.

Earlier, the National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade SAN, said that they were in the state to identify with the governor and look at the governor’s performances in the state they read on the pages of the newspapers.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee of our great Party and our colleagues present here, I bring the Governor, our esteemed governor and his team warm greetings and good tidings from the secretariat of our great party.

“Today we are impressed, we came into a new Governor’s Office about which different commentaries have been running and a lot of positive things. The round office, Office of the Chief of Staff where I observed my afternoon prayers. This is wonderful. Congratulations Your Excellency on this feat.

“Secondly, Your Excellency, we are here to also identify with you and to salute your courage as the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum. We cannot pretend, a lot of things have been going on in our party, we cannot pretend to say that all is very well”

“We are grateful and we are glad that you and other colleague governors have taken the bull by the horns. So, we made it necessary for us to come and identify with you and tell you that whatever steps taken by the Governors Forum under your leadership, We as representatives of the National Working Committee will accept it and are ready to implement,” he said.
