•Delta State Polytechnic

An unidentified HND female student of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha North council, has been reportedly abducted by a five-man gang along the Polytechnic road.

It was learnt that a stray bullet from the gunmen killed a woman in the process of the abduction when her perceived boyfriend was accosted by hoodlums last night, reports The Guardian.

Sources said that the gunmen blocked the vehicle and shot sporadically before abducting the student but their target was said to have managed to escape the scene.

“The man was driving along the polytechnic road when the group of about five men blocked his vehicle and started shooting, the man managed to open the door and ran into the bush,” the source said.

“But the girl at the driver’s side could not escape like the man did and the hoodlums carried her away after raining bullets on the vehicle

“It was like a war zone last night in Ogwashi-Uku and people were running scampering for safety

“As of this afternoon, they made a demand of N10 million ransom.”

Another source disclosed that a stray bullet killed a woman and injured a man during indiscriminate shooting.

“During shooting, a stray bullet killed a woman who owned a shop under the power line and one man was also hit in the leg before abducting the girl,” the source added.

The Chairman of Ogwashi-Uku vigilant group, Mr Hery Chukwuka, confirmed the abduction and killing, said that the Lexus 330 vehicle involved had already parked at the Ogwashi-Uku Police station.

When contacted, police spokesman, Bright Edafe, said he was yet to get an official report from the DPO of Ogwashi Uku police station.
