Harvesters pastor, Bolaji Idowu breaks silence over alleged N1.5 billion fraud, money laundering

The Lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center, Pastor Bolaji Idowu, has responded to the recent fraud and money laundering allegations against him, firmly maintaining his innocence.

He addressed the accusations during the “Next Level Prayers” session today following reports that he was arrested and is under investigation by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) of the Nigerian police for alleged financial crimes of N1.5 billion, reports The PUNCH.

Acknowledging the surge of reports on social media over the past 24 hours, Pastor Idowu stated, “Over the last 24 hours, there’s been a lot of news about me on social media. I just want to state some facts clearly.”

The pastor categorically denied any involvement in real estate transactions, clarifying, “I do not have any property in Nigeria apart from the one bequeathed to me by my late parents. I am not in the business of buying or selling properties.”

He also rejected claims that vast amounts of money, including billions of naira, had been transferred into his accounts.

“Someone said I received billions into my account. My account is public; anyone can check if I have ever received such amounts. I did not,” he stated.

While he refrained from commenting on the specifics of the ongoing investigation, Pastor Idowu expressed his appreciation for his supporters, saying, “I want to thank all of you who showed a lot of love. We are victorious.”

He added with confidence, “As you are reading it, I’m also reading it, like wow.”

Pastor Idowu invited anyone with concrete evidence against him to present it, maintaining his stance of innocence.

Earlier reports suggested that Pastor Idowu had been detained for questioning concerning the allegations, with sources confirming that he is currently being held by the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja.

He is under investigation for suspected involvement in real estate fraud and money laundering.

According to People Gazette, confirming the arrest, a senior police source revealed, “Pastor Bolaji Idowu, popularly known as the ‘Next-Level Prayer Conference’ pastor, is under investigation for alleged fraudulent real estate activities and money laundering.”

Another source added, “He is at the FCID Abuja as we speak.”

Pastor Idowu, who founded HICC in December 2003, has overseen its expansion into a global ministry with branches across Nigeria, the UK, and the US.

The church draws a combined audience of over 70,000 worshippers through its online and in-person services.

His “Next Level Prayers” platform, which emphasises deepening one’s prayer life, has gained international recognition.

The allegations have stirred concern and speculation within HICC’s vast congregation.

While the case continues to unfold, both the police and Pastor Idowu’s representatives have yet to issue formal statements.
