ICPC questions Tinubu’s chief of staff Gbajabiamila over ‘fake’ Presidential Council scandal

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, over the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) controversy.

Adeniyi Adeyemi, controversial Director-General of the agency, had alleged that he paid N400 million to Gbajabiamila to secure his position as head of the controversial agency, reports Daily Trust.

He had also claimed that the Chief of Staff demanded 48 per cent from the agency’s N27.3 billion take-off grant.

Adeyemi claimed to have related with Gbajabiamila through Babatunde Tanimola, who is now late.

He had said the Chief of Staff should be questioned about the controversial death of Tanimola.

Gbajabiamila denied all the allegations and filed a N15 billion suit against Adeyemi.

Amid the allegation and counter allegation, President Bola Tinubu directed ICPC to probe the matter within 30 days.

Today, Jiti Ogunye, counsel to Gbajabiamila, confirmed that his client was questioned by ICPC.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the agency and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others.”

“My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post,” Ogunye said in a brief statement.
