INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: Gov Eno calls for civic responsibility, spiritual renewal at monthly prayer meeting

The FrontierThe FrontierMay 18, 2025 2901 Minutes read0

•Governor Umo Eno

Governor Umo Bassey Eno has called on residents of Akwa Ibom State to embrace civic responsibility and deepen their commitment to service, as the state prepares for the celebration of the second anniversary of the present administration and key milestones so far recorded.

He made this charge on Saturday, May 17, 2025, during the monthly Government House Prayer Meeting held at the Latter House Chapel, Uyo.

Addressing government officials, religious leaders, and worshippers at the solemn gathering, Governor Eno expressed concern over recent reports that listed Akwa Ibom among states prone to flooding. He therefore urged every citizen to take proactive steps to mitigate the risk of environmental disasters.

“Our environment is our collective responsibility,” the governor said.

“We must all take simple but effective steps, such as desilting the drainages around our homes. It’s not just about waiting for government intervention, it’s about every one of us playing our part.”

The governor used the occasion to announce two significant upcoming spiritual events in the state. First is the Thanksgiving Service scheduled for Sunday, June 25, 2025, to mark the second anniversary of his administration. He described it as a moment of reflection, gratitude, and recommitment to the ARISE Agenda that guides his governance.

In addition, Governor Eno announced a Three-Day Revival Service from June 11 to 13 to usher in the second half of his administration. The revival, he said, will serve as a spiritual reset for the government and the people, reinforcing the state’s dependence on divine guidance for continued peace, prosperity, and progress.

He also took time to reflect on the ethos of public service, reminding all appointees and public servants that their positions are not entitlements, but privileges.

“We must serve with humility and dedication,” he admonished.

“When given the opportunity to lead or serve, do so with a heart of gratitude, not pride. Public service is a sacred trust, we must honour it.”

The prayer meeting concluded with intercessions for the state, its leaders, and the wellbeing of every Akwa Ibomite.
