•Governor Umo Eno

Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has described his nomination as Keynote Speaker for the Yoruba Tennis Club Centenary celebration, and other speech giving engagements at events in recent times, as great privilege to share ideas aimed at contributing to nation-building and socio-political advancement, from Akwa Ibom perspective.

Fielding questions from Government House correspondents on his arrival from engagements outside the state, at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, yesterday, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the governor appreciated God for the grace to be found worthy to speak on some of the occasions in the country, saying it has afforded him the opportunity to share experiences, knowledge and ideas across various areas of our national life.
“To be invited to speak at the Yoruba Tennis Club Centenary celebration is an honour, and I don’t take it for granted. I give all the glory to God.
“All these privileges teach me to continue to serve in humility, integrity, and sincerity. And it reminds me that whatever I am doing, people are watching, and I am not better than any other person. It is just the grace of God for me,” he noted.

He commended the leadership of the renowned club for the honour to be invited to speak at the event, saying “it is humbling for me to be recognized to be part of the occasion.”
He further described the club as one of Nigeria’s most respected institutions, noting that it boasts an impressive membership comprising some of the nation’s most influential personalities.
Reflecting on his early years in Lagos, Governor Eno said he never imagined that he would, one day, return to address such a distinguished gathering, describing the invitation as evidence that simplicity, humility and selfless service remain enduring virtues that attract recognition.

“This is a town where I grew up. If anyone had told me then that someday I would stand before the Yoruba Tennis Club to deliver its Centenary Lecture, I would have doubted it. It shows what simplicity, humility and service can do,” he added.
He pledged to keep on delivering quality service to better the fortunes of the people of Akwa Ibom State.

Governor Eno is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the centenary celebration on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Yoruba Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, on the theme, “Democracy and the Imperative of Good Governance: Renewing Hope in Challenging Times.”
