JUST IN: Israel president threatens Iran with more havoc, visits missile impact site

The FrontierThe FrontierMarch 16, 2026 1531 Minutes read0

•Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Iran supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei

Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited what he said was an Iranian cluster munition impact site in central Israel today, warning the Islamic republic the use of such weapons would bring “more havoc on them”.

“They don’t understand that what they’re doing simply will bring more havoc on them”, Herzog said after visiting a home damaged by a missile attack in the coastal Israeli city of Rishon LeZion, near Tel Aviv.

“This is the living room of a family where the cluster bomb fell straight into the living room, and you see the devastation”, he said in a statement released by his office.

Photos of Herzog, whose role is largely ceremonial, at the site showed a living-room damaged by the impact, chunks of cement blasted off the walls, broken windows and the floor littered by debris.

Israel’s first responders agency, Magen David Adom, said that one woman sustained minor injuries as a result of the strike despite being in a shelter.

Herzog said the missile carried cluster munitions, which scatter a multitude of bomblets through the air.

“This is what I call the ‘weapon of the weak,’ the weapon of those who are just chickening out, those guys from Iran”, Herzog said.

More than 100 states have signed the Convention on Cluster Munitions, adopted in 2008, which bans the use, transfer, production and stockpiling of cluster bombs, though neither Iran or Israel are party to it.

The Israeli military has said that some 50 percent of the missiles being fired by Iran in the latest war contain cluster munitions.
