•Hon. Blessing Agbebaku
Former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, said he resigned as Speaker of the 8th Assembly for personal reasons.
Agbebaku said he maintained a cordial working relationship with other lawmakers throughout his three-year tenure, reports The Nation.
In a statement issued in Benin City, Agbebaku said he resigned in the interests of peace in the state and his Owan West constituency.
Agbebaku thanked Governor Monday Okpebholo and reaffirmed his loyalty to the party.
He urged his supporters to remain calm, even as he congratulated the new Speaker, Yekini Idaiye, and other principal officers of the House.
“Differences will naturally arise because we all have our individual identities and beliefs. However, that did not stop us from passing people-oriented Bills and Resolutions in the last three years of my leadership,” he stated.
