The FrontierThe FrontierApril 8, 2026 1131 Minutes read0

A man has run amok in Okitipupa, Ondo State, killing his son and two other children in the community.

The incident happened yesterday when the culprit was said to have picked a machete and hacked the three casualties right at their residence, reports Daily Independent.

Sources disclosed that one of the victims was the culprit’s biological son.

Another victim was a female student, who is billed to write the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board programme.

She was described as a cousin to the culprit, who was said to have run berserk suddenly.

Another source disclosed that the suspect was mentally unstable.

He was said to have fled the scene after allegedly committing the crime.

A resident explained that “The victims include a JUPEB student and two young boys. One of them is the attacker’s son, while the others are members of the extended family. It is a devastating loss.”

The family head, simply identified as Baba Agbaye, was said to have gone to the oil palm farm with wife and youngest child early in the morning.

He was said to have run into the suspect while returning from the farm with his family, while the suspect was heading towards Ayeka area of the town.

The suspect told the man that he was coming from the family house but didn’t disclose the havoc he had perpetrated.

Spokesman to the Police Command in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident.

He said three people were killed in the incident and the suspect has been arrested.

The Police Image-maker said: “The suspect has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is currently ongoing.

“He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

“The Command urges the good people of Ondo State to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that due diligence will be observed to ensure that justice is served accordingly.

“The remains of the victims have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue.”
