Nigeria’s D’Tigress beat Senegal to reach 2025 AfroBasket Women final

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 3, 2025 1790 Minutes read0

Defending champions, D’Tigress of Nigeria, defeated their fierce rivals, Senegal, 75-68 to reach the final of the 2025 AfroBasket Women ongoing on Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

The high-intensity encounter saw D’Tigress start strong, taking the first quarter 22–17, showcasing sharp offensive execution and tight defensive control, reports Sunday Independent.

Senegal, however, responded in the second quarter, narrowly edging Nigeria 21–20 to reduce the deficit heading into halftime.

The third quarter proved the most challenging for Nigeria as Senegal surged ahead with a dominant 21–9 run, putting the four-time defending champions on the back foot. But in true D’Tigress fashion, the Nigerian side mounted a remarkable comeback in the final quarter, outscoring Senegal 23–10 to seal the win and advance to the final.

Nigeria will now face the winner of the Mali Vs. Sudan semifinal clash, scheduled for later tonight, in what promises to be a thrilling AfroBasket 2025 final.

D’Tigress are aiming to extend their continental dominance with a historic fifth consecutive title.
