Trouble brews in late reggae star Ras Kimono’s household over sale of property •Daughter warns public

•Late Ras Kimono and daughter Oge Kimono

Trouble seems to be brewing within the estate of late reggae icon, Okwudili Onwubuya a.k.a. Ras Kimono.

His musician daughter, Oge Kimono, has issued a formal warning to the general public regarding an alleged fraudulent property transaction belonging to the deceased, reports The Nation.

In a statement made available by Oge, she alleged that Kimono’s first wife Sybil, who she claimed her father legally divorced in 2005 has purportedly sold a plot of land belonging to the Estate, located in Ota, Ogun State.

Part of the statement reads: “At the time of his passing, the late Ras Kimono was legally married to Ms. Cynthia Dumas, whom he married in 2007.

“The said individual has no legal authority or mandate to act on behalf of the Estate or to dispose of any of its assets.

“Accordingly, the purported sale of the property is unauthorized, invalid, and of no legal effect.

“It is therefore deeply troubling that, several years after the demise of the deceased, the same individual has resurfaced to lay claim to and attempt to dispose of property forming part of the Estate, which the family intends to preserve and develop in honour of his memory and legacy.

“Furthermore, the Estate has reason to believe that there may be attempts to sell additional plots of land belonging to the Estate. Members of the public, prospective buyers, and real estate agents are strongly advised to refrain from entering into any transaction with the said individual concerning any property tied to the Estate.

“Any person or entity engaging in such dealings does so at their own risk and may face legal consequences, including recovery actions and claims for damages.

“The Estate remains firmly committed to protecting the legacy and assets of the late Ras Kimono and will pursue all necessary legal remedies against any unauthorized dealings.”
