2026 Hajj: Abuja board opens registration with N8.5 million minimum deposit

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 18, 2025 1000 Minutes read0

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (MPWB) has commenced registration for the 2026 Hajj, requiring intending pilgrims to pay a minimum deposit of N8.5 million.

The announcement was made in a statement today by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Muhammad Aliyu, quoting the Director, Alhaji Kadiri Edah, who disclosed the information at a meeting in Abuja.

“Intending pilgrims who wish to participate through the board are to deposit a minimum of N8.5 million only to book a seat,” Edah said.

He added that payments must be made via bank draft from any commercial bank payable to the FCT MPWB by December 2, 2025, and submitted along with the international passport at any of the territory’s six area councils, reports Nigerian Tribune.

Edah emphasised that registration operates on a first-come, first-served basis and strictly forbids cash payments.

He also urged pilgrims who had deposited funds previously but did not participate to declare their interest before the deadline to secure a seat for 2026.

The director reiterated the board’s commitment to improving pilgrim services through new strategies and cautioned against dealing with fraudsters seeking extra payments outside the approved Hajj fare.
