•Tinubu received in Nairobi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, early today morning ahead of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to hold between today and tomorrow (Tuesday) in the East African country.

The president’s aircraft touched down at about 12:15 a.m. local time at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, where he was received by top Nigerian and Kenyan government officials, reports The Nation.

Among those on hand to receive the president were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele; Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye; Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; and the Nigerian Ambassador to France, Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

The president is in Nairobi to participate in the Africa-France Summit co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.

The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the continent, including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms of the global financing architecture.

President Tinubu’s participation is expected to further underscore Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African countries and France, while projecting the administration’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a preferred investment destination.

Tinubu arrived in Kenya as part of his ongoing three-nation diplomatic tour with his departure from Abuja for France, Kenya and Rwanda.

The president had departed Abuja on Sunday, May 3.

Following the Nairobi engagement, Tinubu is expected to proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to May 15.

The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as one of Africa’s biggest gatherings of private sector leaders, investors and policymakers, with over 2,000 participants expected to discuss strategies for accelerating economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investments.

Beyond the multilateral meetings, the president is also expected to hold high-level engagements with global and African business leaders during the trip before returning to Nigeria at the conclusion of the Rwanda leg of the tour.
