Air Peace has continued its aggressive expansion across the African continent with the launch of its inaugural Lagos–Douala–Libreville service, extending its footprint into Central Africa and reinforcing its strategy of promoting seamless intra-African connectivity.
The new route, inaugurated on Sunday, August 2, 2026, came barely 24 hours after the airline commenced operations on its Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route, underscoring the carrier’s determination to expand its regional network and position Lagos as a major aviation hub linking West and Central Africa, reports Daily Independent.
The latest service connects Nigeria’s commercial capital with Douala in Cameroon and Libreville in Gabon, creating new opportunities for business, trade, tourism, investment, cultural exchange and stronger people-to-people ties across the region.
Air Peace said the route forms part of its long-term strategy to bridge connectivity gaps on the continent and make travel between African countries easier and more efficient.
An Air Peace delegation led by the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Nowel Ngala, and Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustine Kamano, received a warm welcome on arrival at Douala International Airport from senior government officials, aviation authorities and members of the Nigerian community.
Among those who received the delegation were Mrs Suliat A. Paramole, Foreign Affairs Officer at the Nigerian Consulate General, representing Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cameroon; President General of the Nigerian Community in Cameroon’s Littoral Region, Hon. Chief Sir Lovinus Ezeh; Deputy Chief of the Airport Security Unit, Douala, Lt. Col. Adolphe Nyamke Bongkwaha, representing the Douala Airport Authority; as well as officials from Cameroon’s Transport Regulator and Civil Aviation Authority.
Speaking during the reception, Mrs Paramole praised Air Peace for strengthening air transport links between Nigeria and Cameroon, saying the new route would improve mobility between both countries while supporting their longstanding diplomatic and economic relationship.
She noted that increased flight connectivity would facilitate trade, tourism and investment, while bringing citizens of both countries closer together through easier travel.
The President General of the Nigerian Community in the Littoral Region, Hon. Chief Sir Lovinus Ezeh, also welcomed the commencement of the service, describing it as a major milestone for Nigerians living in Cameroon.
According to him, the direct connection would significantly reduce travel challenges, improve convenience for passengers and further strengthen economic and social ties between the neighbouring countries.
Representing the Douala Airport Authority, Lt. Col. Bongkwaha described Air Peace’s arrival as a significant boost for Douala’s position as an important regional aviation gateway.
He said the new service would encourage greater passenger movement between Cameroon and Nigeria while contributing to increased regional integration and economic activities.
Speaking on behalf of Air Peace, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr Nowel Ngala, described the inaugural operation as another important milestone in the airline’s expansion across Africa.
Ngala said the Lagos–Douala–Libreville service further strengthens Air Peace’s growing African network and offers passengers wider access to destinations across West and Central Africa.
He reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to building a comprehensive African route network that enables travellers from its domestic destinations across Nigeria to connect seamlessly through Lagos to regional and long-haul destinations, including London and the Caribbean.
Following the successful launch in Douala, the Air Peace delegation proceeded to Libreville, where the inaugural flight was similarly accorded a ceremonial welcome by aviation officials and representatives of the Nigerian community in Gabon.
Those who received the airline included the Director of Flight Operations of Gabon’s Agence Nationale de l’Aviation Civile, Mr Georges Renaud Maxime Moubamou Malekou; the Managing Director of Aéroport de Libreville, Mr Igor Simard; and representative of the President of the Nigerian Community in Gabon, Mr Mike Iwu.
Speaking during the reception, Mr Malekou welcomed Air Peace into the Gabonese market, expressing confidence that the new service would improve air connectivity between Gabon, Nigeria and other parts of Africa while encouraging stronger regional cooperation.
Mr Simard also hailed the commencement of the route, describing it as a positive development for Libreville Airport and passengers seeking more travel options within Africa.
According to him, the route would enhance Libreville’s connectivity to major African destinations while stimulating business and tourism activities.
Representing the Nigerian community in Gabon, Mr Mike Iwu expressed appreciation to the airline for introducing the direct connection, noting that it would make travel more convenient for Nigerians residing in Gabon as well as other travellers while strengthening links with their home country.
The launch of the Lagos–Douala–Libreville service, following immediately after the introduction of the Lagos–Conakry–Bamako route, highlights Air Peace’s accelerating regional expansion strategy aimed at improving connectivity across Africa.
