CAN urges churches to mobilise members for Permanent Voter’s Card registration

The FrontierThe FrontierFebruary 15, 2026 461 Minutes read0

The Adamawa State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has directed church leaders across the state to ensure that eligible members obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the democratic process.

In a formal communication signed by the State Chairman, Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, the association instructed all bloc leaders, bishops, denominational heads, pastors, and leaders of Christian organisations within the state to ensure compliance with the directive, reports Sunday Guardian.

According to the statement, all eligible church members under their supervision must possess a valid PVC. Those who do not currently have one are required to take immediate steps to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in line with existing laws.

Beyond voter registration, CAN advised members to freely and voluntarily register with any political party of their choice, emphasizing that such decisions must be made without coercion, restriction, or preference for any particular party.

The association further encouraged members to participate lawfully in the democratic process by meeting all statutory requirements necessary to vote and, where qualified, to contest elective positions.

Reaffirming its stance, CAN Adamawa reiterated its commitment to fairness, credibility, and righteousness in electoral and civic matters. The body stated that the Church remains a moral force for justice, accountability, and the promotion of democratic values in society.
