INSIDE AKWA IBOM TODAY: Governor Eno’s support for Tinubu, an act of enlightened state interest – Commissioner

The FrontierThe FrontierApril 22, 2025 2992 Minutes read0

•Governor Umo Eno

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Rt Hon Aniekan Umanah, has described Governor Umo Eno’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a strategic act of enlightened state interest, aimed at unlocking federal collaboration for the benefit of the people of Akwa Ibom.

Speaking on the live radio programme, ARISE Akwa Ibom, on Comfort FM, yesterday, Umanah emphasised that the governor’s recent open endorsement of the president is not about partisanship, but a pragmatic step to foster cooperation and attract federal interventions to the state.

He noted that this growing synergy has already begun yielding visible benefits and will further facilitate key initiatives like the Ibom Deep Seaport, Ecological Remediation, amongst others.

“The governor’s support for President Tinubu and Senator Akpabio is a well-considered move rooted in the best interest of Akwa Ibom State,” Umanah said.

“These leaders have shown clear goodwill toward our state and have publicly acknowledged the governor’s exceptional performance. This is leadership with foresight.”

Umanah noted that President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Senate President Akpabio have on multiple occasions commended Governor Eno’s developmental strides, which have continued to earn national attention and respect.

Highlighting the governor’s accomplishments in just 23 months, the information commissioner praised Pastor Umo Eno’s scientific and methodical approach to governance, anchored on the Arise Agenda, a people-centric developmental blueprint that has transformed Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Education; and several humanitarian interventions.

“From May 29, 2023, the governor hit the ground running. He is not just making promises, he is delivering on them,” Umanah said.

“Across the state, we see road construction projects, both inherited and new ones being executed. We are witnessing the establishment of well-equipped model schools and modern health centres in rural and urban communities alike, along with structured citizen empowerment initiatives that are transforming lives at the grassroots.”

He added that every local government area is feeling the impact of the administration, as development is being deliberately decentralised and brought closer to the people.

Umanah also highlighted the Federal Constituency Town Square Meetings, where citizens’ inputs will directly shape the budgeting process for 2026. This, he said, is a hallmark of Governor Eno’s servant-leadership style, where governance is guided by the real needs and voices of the people.

“This is a governor who listens. His model is inclusive, scientific, and rooted in results. That’s why we’ve seen superlative accomplishments in less than two years,” he said.

Addressing the political discourse surrounding the governor’s alignment with federal leaders from the opposition party, Umanah urged Akwa Ibom people to see beyond party lines and focus on the larger picture of development, peace, and unity.

“Governor Umo Eno is leading Akwa Ibom State, not a political party. His decisions are based on what will move the state forward. That is what matters,” he stressed.

The commissioner called on the people of the state to continue supporting the governor’s vision and stay united in the collective pursuit of progress and prosperity.
