Prolific Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem throws weight behind Governor Otti

The FrontierThe FrontierAugust 7, 2026 322 Minutes read0

Veteran Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter, Eedris Abdulkarim has thrown his weight behind the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.

The 51-year-old Olympic torch bearer made this known recently during a media chat in the Akowonjo area of Lagos.

Abdulkareem expressed his satisfaction with Otti’s governance in Abia State saying he’s a true technocrat that has demonstrated excellence in governance, reports The Nation.

In his words, “Governor Alex Otti has shown that he is the man of the people and the people love him. My backing of his administration stems from my decision, alongside my team at Larkreem Entertainment to start a series on good governance in states across Nigeria.

“For over 20 years, I have been tackling the presidents and federal government but it’s time to focus on the states, and with what is currently being paid to governors across by the federal, we should hold them accountable for how they spend the funds meant for the people. “The series will focus on governors and we will torchlight the ones doing good and the other ones not doing well, we will call them out too.”

The conscious singer also revealed that he has recorded and is set to release an EP for each of the governors after touring their states to see how well they have done or faired in their states.

When queried if the recorded songs and popularising Otti isn’t politically motivated, the Oko Asewo singer said he’s not bothered how people perceive his support for Otti.

According to Myke Pam, who is also a member of the Lakreem Team, Abdulkareem has recorded three songs that are dedicated to Alex Otti’s administration. The first song talks about the inspiration behind Otti’s ambition, the second song talks about the challenges faced by Otti and his team during his first term in government while the third song tells the true state and feels in Abia where everyone in the state is campaigning for Otti for a second term. The slogan in Abia is that there is no vacancy in the Governor’s office in Abia.

“ I am unbothered, people have always talked. When I was singing about bad leadership and presidents, they spoke and people had opinions. Now I am commending a governor, who has done well and they want to talk, please let them talk by all means. Truth is that Gov Alex Otti’s stride in Abia is not one that can be hidden and it’s one no godfather can rubbish because they are both landstrides and commendable. “He’s a governor, who understands the people, knows what they want and is giving them dividends of democracy. Don’t forget that Otti had been a billionaire long before he got into politics and despite his challenges, he has done well for himself and surpassed all his challenges. The people love him and they want him again, so no pharaoh or ex-governors called thieves can stop him,” he said.

Abdulkareem went further to say he was in Abia to see the works of the governor without informing the governor or his team yet what they saw was impressive.

“We went to Abia and three other states since this project by Lakreem Entertainment began. Abia is the first state and what we saw impressed us all. I won’t speak about other states until it is time to release the score cards for those states. It’s important that we speak out against bad governance and also applaud politicians when they do well,” he said.
