The House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has summoned the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Engr. Bayo Ojulari, directing him to appear before the committee and submit all outstanding documents on Monday, December 15, 2025.
The invitation follows audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation regarding NNPCL’s expenditures for January to December 2021, reports Daily Independent.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Bamidele Salam, issued the directive during the panel’s sitting today in Abuja.
Hon. Salam criticised the continuous refusal of NNPCL to honour previous invitations or provide the documents requested for the ongoing investigation. He warned that the committee would no longer condone actions that undermine legislative oversight.
Speaking during the resumed hearing, the chairman read a letter from NNPCL in which the GCEO attributed his absence to an official assignment at the Presidential Villa. Lawmakers, however, condemned the company’s attitude, describing it as unbecoming of a government-owned entity and a hindrance to transparency and accountability.
After an appeal by the NNPCL National Assembly Liaison Officer, Hon. Umar Faruk, the committee agreed to grant one last opportunity, scheduling Monday, 15th December 2025, as the final date for appearance and submission of all required documents.
In his ruling, Hon. Salam stated:
“We have resolved to give you up till next week Monday, the 15th of December, for a fresh appearance. The committee has a very heavy workload, and if you have followed our sittings in recent weeks, you would appreciate the volume of issues before us.”
The NNPCL is expected to address several audit concerns raised by the Auditor-General, including alleged payments for abandoned projects, failure to remit statutory taxes, and questionable disbursements made by the Chief Finance Officer without the approval of the Group Managing Director.
