The National Examinations Council (NECO) has sounded the alarm about a fake recruitment portal that claims that the examination body is conducting a recruitment exercise as a product of falsehood and warned members of the public not to fall into the hands of fraudsters.
The note of warning was sounded to the public in a statement by Azeez Sani, NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, while speaking with journalists in Abuja today.
He advised that applicants should be aware that the body is not recruiting at the moment and they should disregard the information, reports Daily Independent.
Sani said, “The attention of NECO has been drawn to an online publication purporting that the Council is planning to recruit new staff. We wish to categorically state that this publication is false and should be ignored.
NECO further warned that the publication was designed by fraudsters to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.
“The Council hereby strongly states that the publication is the product of the imagination of fraudsters who are out to defraud innocent members of the public,” it added.
The Council reassured Nigerians of its commitment to transparency, noting that any genuine recruitment exercise would follow due process.
“NECO, under the able leadership of the Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, will always adhere to due process and relevant extant laws whenever the Federal Government grants approval for staff recruitment,” the statement said.
