Mentally challenged woman allegedly terrorising Lagos community evacuated

The FrontierThe FrontierOctober 25, 2025 1001 Minutes read0

The Lagos State Government has rescued a mentally challenged woman accused of disturbing residents in a community in the Agege area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, confirmed the development in a post via his verified X handle.

According to him, officials from the ministry’s Rescue Team had responded and evacuated the woman from the area for medical attention and rehabilitation.

The development followed a viral video that drew public attention to the situation.

Footage, which surfaced online this week, showed a distressed woman pleading with the government to save the neighbourhood from constant harassment allegedly caused by the mentally unstable resident.

The speaker in the video claimed that the woman, identified as living at No. 31 Adedosu Street, Agege, had been throwing stones into people’s homes and wielding a machete and knife.

The yet-to-be-identified resident in the viral clip, which was shared widely across social media platforms, also narrated how the mentally ill patient poses a threat in the community.

Reacting to the public outcry yesterday, Ogunlende noted that the woman has been taken to a care centre.

“She has been taken to one of our centres for care.

“I urge the public to continue reporting any incidents requiring government intervention.

“We remain committed to ensuring social stability in Lagos. Let’s work together to make a difference,” Ogunlende wrote.

He emphasised that the state government remains focused on protecting vulnerable persons while maintaining peace and order in communities.

The ministry urged residents to continue reporting similar cases through its emergency lines.
